Wake Audubon has a long history of advocacy both locally and across the state. Our organization:

• Helped keep Horseshoe Farm Park a city nature park. (An attempt was made to turn the park into softball fields.)

• Currently works with other local policy and environmental groups to create and enforce stricter rules for Falls Lake

• Was the driving force behind the creation of the $3 non-game donation on NC Tax forms

• Successfully blocked the construction of the "Duraleigh Connector" which would have destroyed the continuity between Umstead and Schenk Forest

• Helped prevent the Navy's proposed Offsite Landing Field in Hyde County, NC
